Description

This was another tricky subject that I wanted to capture. The low surface brightness barely stands out above the background.

NGC 4395 is a nearby low surface brightness spiral galaxy located about 14 million light-years (or 4.3 Mpc) from Earth in the constellation Canes Venatici. The nucleus of NGC 4395 is active and the galaxy is classified as a Seyfert Type I known for its very low-mass supermassive black hole.

Data from 2020-04-25, 2022-02-25 and 2023-04-19 of 2h each. I used the best nights of those seasons for this, I measured a better-than-usual SQM of around 19.2 - 19.3 when capturing the subs.
